confession of a bad mom

I did it. I swore as a younger mom I would never utter the words that came from my mouth today. on the way to preschool this morning, van began complaining (again) about a little kid who is constantly hitting him, bumping into him, and punching him. It is not being resolved at school in a way that makes me happy. In my classroom, we call parents and they come pick up their habitual offender. In the preschool class where this occurs, the child gets a treat if he stops after only hitting one or 2 kids... so today, i told van to just hit him back...
I fear i will get a phone call from preschool telling me that this is going on...

  1. Sometime in everyones life they have to learn when enough is enough. Usually we make it past preschool though.

  2. For pity sake...a child gets rewarded for only hitting one or two kids? I would be tempeted to go punch the teacher in Sullivan's class!! See how she likes it!!

    Uh...*ahem*...I am a little hormonal...sorry...

  4. As a fellow teacher, I agree with your advice and have found myself "not seeing" when the hitting back occurs.

  5. Amy! I can't believe you told your son to do that! Maybe Sullivan will get rewarded for only hitting back once or twice. Tell him Grandma and Granddad said to hit where it will really hurt, then he'll stop. Try the nose, lips, or ears (Dad prefers the nose), but you didn't hear that from me. I LOVE YOU! You are a wonderful Mom.

  6. I read my comment to Dad and he said it might be better to hit the kid where it won't show. Try the solar plexis (that's the area just under the rib cage).

  7. I said those words to Jack about a month ago when a boy in nursery was hitting and hurting EVERY kid in nursery!! I heard last Sunday that Jack had to sit in time out because he was laying on him. WAY TO GO JACK! The reward thing is way out there! Love chubb baby! Your boys are soooo cute!!
